Completed Hat #13, My First Delivery, and HHH Article

Posted on December 8, 2010. Filed under: Completed Hats |

Taking a hiatus from my hiatus to post a new hat!

Pattern: Turn a Square, designed by Jared Flood

Yarn: Berroco Ultra Alpaca, Charcoal Mix colorway, and Noro Silk Garden, Taupes/Black colorway

Thanks, Nick!

I also did my first hat delivery at Seattle Children’s Hospital today, which was a success! I got to meet Julie, the child life specialist who will be distributing the hats. Apparently there is a great need for hats for teenagers, and it was satisfying to know that my hats will help to fill the void that I assumed existed but never had proof of… if that makes sense. According to Julie there have been a lot of older teenage boys in treatment lately, so expect plenty of boy hats (and thus plenty of modeling from Nick. Unless any other boys want to model for me. Hello out there?)

Katie (another woman who works at the hospital), me, and Julie wearing some hats. Katie is wearing the hat that Sara made. I love it!

Also, for any interested parties, here’s the article that my friend wrote about Hannah’s Hopeful Hats- just scroll down to the bottom of the page to read it.

With a warrior spirit, you can fight the cancer.

If you were a kid and you found out you had brain cancer, what would you think about? What would be the worst things that could happen to you if you had cancer? Sadness? Pain? Being tired of all the appointments, treatment, IV’s and years of your life passing you by at the hospital? I wish kids would not go through these things.
